河北正定中学2014届高三上学期第一次月考英语试题答案(5)

2013-10-27 08:53:55

The ridge (隆起) structure on a person's fingers does not change with growth and is not affected by surface injuries. Burns, cuts and other damage to the outer part of the skin will be replaced in time by a new one, which bears a reproduction of the original pattern.   72   Some criminals make use of this fact to remove their own finger-prints but this is a dangerous and rare step to take.
Finger-prints can be made very easily with  printer’s ink. They can be recorded easily.   73   Because of the simplicity and economy of this system, finger-prints have often been used as a method of solving criminal case. A suspected man may deny a charge but this may be in vain.   74   . When a suspect leaves finger-prints behind at the scene of a crime, they are difficult to detect with the naked eye.    75   Some of the marks found are incomplete but identification is possible if a print of a quarter of an inch square can be obtained.

A. Special techniques are used to “develop” them.
B. A fingerprint is an impression of the friction ridges of all parts of the finger.
C. It is only when the inner skin is injured that the arrangement will be destroyed.
D. With special methods, identification can be achieved successfully within a short time.
E. A latent print is the chance reproduction of the friction ridges deposited on the surface of an item.
F. His finger-prints can prove who he is even if his appearance has been changed by age or accident.
G. Every human being has a unique arrangement of the skin on his fingers and this arrangement is unchangeable.

She tapped the person in front of her on the shoulder and say, "There's a bum(流浪汉) in the toilet. Tell the bus driver." The message was past from person to person. But anywhere along the way, it changed. The bus driver was told that there was a bomb in the toilet. He immediate stopped the bus and telephoned the police. When the police came in, they told the passengers to get off the bus or stay far away. Then they closed the highway.  This soon caused a 15-miles-long traffic jam. Under the help of a dog, the police searched for two hours. Of course they found no bomb!

Compared to cars, bicycles are much cheaper to buy and maintain, and we don't have all the added costs of fuel and parking. What's more, bicycles are more environmentally friendly than cars and cycling is a good way of energy-saving and low-carbon life. Last but not least, cycling is can help keep fit and live longer. By riding bicycles, you can cut down your risk of heart attacks, high blood pressure and other illnesses. So, let's ride bicycles from today on!
Thank you !
